An environmental meditation told in three parts, using distressed archival images from 1920s newsreels, and set to music by David Lang and Michael Gordon, with libretto by Deborah Artman. Ancient newsreel footage of storms, floods and icebergs produce a combination of anxiety and awe when viewed in the wake of recent meteorological disasters.

LESZEK WOSIEWICZ 　　Born in 1947 in Radomysl Wielkopolski. He graduated from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Lodz Film School. Director and a screenwriter. He wrote several adaptation of foreign classical literature for the screen and the stage. He was a faculty member at the Silesian University in Katowice and a co-founder of the Karol Irzykowski Film Studio. He also directed several documentaries. He won numerous awards such as: The Chief of Cinematography Award (1986), the Grand Prix at the Oberhausen Short Film Festival (1987), the Second Prize at the "Young Polish Cinema" Gdansk Film Review (1988). 　　He studied psychology at the University of Cracow (1975) and direction at PWSFTViT in Lodz (1979). He works at the Silesian University in Katowice, and also directs for the stage and adapts world classics. He won major prizes for his documentaries, The Case of Herman Stoker (Przypadek Hermana Palacza, 1986) and Breaking the Silence (Przelamujac cisze, 2002). He made the feature films The Taste of Water (Smak wody, 1980) and Christmas Eve '81 (Wigilija 81,1982), and for Kornblumenblau (1988), an incredible story of concentration camp survival, he won the Andrzej Munk Prize, the prize for direction in Gdynia, and Best Debut in Koszalin.
